FEASSA GAMES 2024: Full program, Fixtures and Venues Confirmed. Games to kickoff on Monday

 Following the draws held on Monday 12th and the arrival of teams on Friday August 16, the Federation Of East Africa School Sports Associations has released the full program, fixtures and also confirmed venues for the upcoming 21st edition of the FEASSA Games.

Team arrival Friday August 16, Saturday August 17 Technical meeting, Sunday August 18 Opening ceremony, Monday August 19- Saturday August 24 SafeGuarding Workshop, Monday August 19 – Monday August 26 Competitions, Thursday August 22 Tourism Culture Night, Friday August 23 to Saturday 24 Athletics, Saturday 24 August to Sunday August 25 Swimming, and then Monday August 26 Closing ceremony.

For starters, the Federation Of East Africa School Sports Associations Games will be happening for the 21st time since it’s initiation in 2001 before they were interrupted by COVID-19 in 2020. They later resumed in 2022 being hosted by Arusha, Tanzania before heading to Huye, Rwanda last year.

The 21st edition which promises to be an entertaining and competitive one will be hosted in Uganda by the two upcoming schools sports powerhouses Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College in the Eastern side of the Pearl Of Africa.

Over twelve disciplines have been included on this year’s calendar with new games and classification matches being introduced.

  • Lawn Tennis – Mbale Sports Club
  • Table Tennis – Mbale Secondary School
  • Badminton – IUIU University
  • Swimming – Bukedea Comprehensive School
  • Athletics – Amus College
  • Rugby 7s – Mbale Rugby Union Grounds
  • Rugby 15s – Mbale Rugby Union Grounds
  • Football – Amus College Stadium, Bukedea Comprehensive School Stadium and Mbale Stadium
  • Volleyball – Mbale Cricket Grounds
  • Basketball 3×3 – Amus College
  • Basketball 5×5 – Amus College
  • Handball – Bukedea Primary School
  • Hockey – Mbale School of Hygiene
  • Netball – Mbale Cricket Grounds

Key Facts To Note:

  • All the above mentioned games will be competed by both genders except Netball.
  • Lawn Tennis and Table Tennis will be played on a round robin basis with a final to determine the winner.
  • Badminton will be played on a round robin basis without a final. The team with the highest points accumulated will be awarded winners.
  • Other disciplines will start from the group stages up to the final.
  • Classification games will be applied to determine every team’s position.

Fixtures

Action is expected to unfold on 17th August 2024, the opening ceremony will be held on Sunday 18th at Bukedea Comprehensive School Stadium

Hosts Bukedea Comprehensive will take on Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Secondary School at 3PM in the official championship opening game while defending champions St Mary’s Kitende will tussle it out with Highway Secondary School from Kenya on Monday morning at 11:00 AM.
