First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni commemorates the belated International women’s day in Ntungamo district.

Minister of Education and sports and first Lady Janet Kataha Museveni called upon all Ugandans to work together towards supporting the woman’s well being.

Her message was delivered by the state Minister in the office of the Prime Minister for Luwero triangle and Rwenzori region Hon Alice Kaboyo, while officiating the commemoration of the belated international women’s day celebrations at Kizinga Parish in Ntungamo district on 21/03/2024.

The first lady encouraged women and men with requisite skills and expertise to help boost women’s empowerment by participating in supportive mechanisms such as leadership trainings and mentorship programs to help them earn a living.

Hon Janet Kataha Museveni noted that through supporting women with skills from seasoned entrepreneurs, women can be guided to overcome the many obstacles and the gender biases they encounter in the world of entrepreneurship.

At the same function, Minister Kaboyo represented the first Lady to preside over the fundraising drive of the construction of Kizinga boarder hospital, a project that was a dream of a distinguished citizen John Kazzora who passed away when it was at its foundation stage.

She arged Ntungamo district and the leadership of Bushenyi County to offer guidance and support to the people in their communities to benefit in the project and to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the Parish development model, to improve livelihoods, by encouraging efficient use of the funds and recognise the effectiveness of women working in groups.

In her own words, Hon Alice supported the project with 5 million shillings and she also pledged to collect more money from the the family members as away of supporting the project.

Rushenyi County MP Naome Kabasharire expressed concern over the poor road network in Ntungamo district which is caused by the limited road maintenance funds from the government.

The first lady Janet Kataha Museveni contributed 50 million shillings to support the project.

The international women’s day in Ntungamo district was celebrated under the theme: Accelerating Gender Equality through Women Economic Empowerment.
