The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko has urged parents to focus on the moral upbringing and mentorship of their children, as they grow up to face the world.
Namayanja made the call while commissioning the newly constructed classroom blocks at St. Mark Kirema Kkufu Senior Secondary School in Kirema village, Semuto Sub-county.
“Today we celebrate this achievement, which will greatly enhance educational opportunities for our children and strengthen our community as a whole. I call upon all Parents to use these opportunities, educate their children and prepare them for the future. ” Namayanja said.
The school fulfils a presidential pledge, recognising the crucial role that Semuto Sub-county and Kirema Parish played in the NRM’s rise to power.
Namayanja further emphasised NRM’s policy of establishing one government secondary school in every sub-county. Semuto Town Council now has two government schools—Kaloke Christian High School and the newly opened St. Mark Kirema Kkufu SSS, demonstrating the government’s strong commitment to education in the area.
She expressed deep gratitude to the President for granting Kirema Parish two government schools and commended the community for its dedication to the project. She also acknowledged the district leaders’ support and the Church of Uganda’s vital contribution, which made the school a reality.
The Resident District Commissioner Mrs Rose Mary Byabashaija noted that the government invested over 500 million shillings, to construct the classroom blocks. She also appreciated the Church of Uganda for donating 7 acres of land for the project and encouraged the community to make full use of the new facility.
Hon. Sarah Najjuma, who is the district Woman Member of Parliament praised the government’s efforts to improve access to education. She noted that the opening of the new classroom blocks and other projects highlight the government’s commitment to investing in education and supporting local communities.
The District Chairman Mr. Ignatius Koomu Kiwanuka urged parents to actively support their children’s education, noting that the proximity of schools allows families to play a more involved role in their children’s learning.
