Rashid Agau, a talented Ugandan footballer who played a pivotal role in the country’s football scene, has tragically passed away due to complications from hepatitis B. Agau was known for his impressive stints with clubs such as Onduparaka FC, Maroons FC, and Arua Hill SC.

He was a dynamic forward and creative midfielder, leaving a lasting legacy in Ugandan football through his exceptional skills, determination, and passion for the game.

Agau began his football journey in the Arua Kids League, later progressing to play for Arua Central, Onduparaka FC, Dove All Stars, Maroons FC, and most notably, Arua Hill SC.

He was part of the historic Arua Hill side that earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League (UPL) in the 2020/21 season, finishing the FUFA Big League campaign unbeaten.

His contributions were instrumental in securing the Big League title for Arua Hill, marking a significant milestone in his career

Throughout his career, Agau was known for his offensive prowess, consistently delivering crucial goals and assists. His commitment on the pitch made him a fan favorite and an inspiration to younger players aspiring to succeed in Ugandan football.

One of his early career highlights was leading St. Mary’s Kitende to two Copa Coca Cola titles and two East Africa Championships, showcasing his talent from a young age.

Off the pitch, Agau was admired for his humility and dedication to the sport, qualities that endeared him to teammates, coaches, and fans alike.

His untimely passing is a significant loss to the Ugandan football community, which mourns the departure of a promising player whose career was tragically cut short.

Condolence Message from Onduparaka FC:

“Our hearts are saddened by the news of the passing on of our former player, Agau Rashid, from Arua Regional Referral Hospital this morning following a short illness.

As a club, we grieve with his family, friends, and our fans as we pray for strength and comfort in this trying moment.

The entire football community extends its deepest condolences to Rashid Agau’s family, friends, and teammates. His impact on and off the pitch, especially his role in helping Arua Hill SC achieve promotion to the UPL, will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Ugandan footballers.

Following consultations with Family, here is the arrangement for the final send off of Agau Rashid. Tonight the body will sleep at Oli B Cell, next to Oli Health Center.

Tomorrow, Sunday 8am, the body will be at Ababet Greenlight Stadium for our fans to pay their respects and have him visit his Home field for the final time and there after the body will proceed to Arua Primary for JANAZA Prayers before heading back to Oli Cell B where his body will be laid to rest.

Rest in peace, Rashid Agau. Your spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and admired you.
