Veteran from Nama village, Mukono district Samuel Ssejjemba extended his sincere appreciation towards the President for considering him to be among the veterans who have been rewarded with the new house.

He expressed his joy as he was receiving the keys for the new house which was handed over to him by the State minister in the office of the Prime Minister for Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori region Hon Alice Kaboyo in Mukono district.

While commissioning the new house, Hon Alice Kaboyo called upon families of the veterans to work together and overcome poverty among themselves through taking advantage of the funding from the veterans office.

Hon Kaboyo noted that they do not want to see families of the people who fought for the country’s well being suffering from poverty. She therefore encouraged them to come up with associations as veterans families and register them at the district so that they start asking for fund from government to work and get out of poverty.

Minister Alice Kaboyo challenged parents in Mukono to talk to their children about the history of the country so that the love for their country develops from childhood. She commended all veterans and promised to continue extending appreciation to them for fighting for the country’ s peace. However ever much the process is not too fast, she asked them to be patient.

She emphasised that the President gave them an assignment to visit families of veterans to see how they are doing and one of challenges they found out was the poor housing conditions which attracted them to reward the veterans with new comfortable houses.

One of the veterans in Mukono Nagawa appreciated the Minister for rewarding the veterans and asked her to continue supporting the veterans who have not so far been rewarded under this program. However she expressed concern that most of the veterans have died without getting their kasiimo and asked her to work on it so that veterans can benefit from their efforts.
