Former She Cranes manager Joceline Uchanda donates shoes to less privileged Kapchorwa SS netball team

In the world of sports athletes are facing lots of challenges as each sport has its own.

From teams to specific players, in netball upon the recently concluded USSSA ball games II held in Soroti, plays between privileged and less privileged were experienced.

For example Kapchorwa Secondary School netball team had to go on the pitch without playing boots.

The brave action touched many including the long serving National Insurance Corporation (NIC) Netball club team Manager Jocelyn Uchanda.

It all ended in smiling note for Kapchorwa secondary school netball team with Uchanda filling with a donation.

The donation is comprised of fourteen (14) pairs of playing boots in varying sizes.

Uchanda’s donation followed a photo taken by a journalist as the Kapchorwa SS team in action barefooted at the just concluded USSSA Ball Games II held at Teso College Aloet in Soroti city.

“I am giving a pair of shoes to each player because it is a basic requirement for each netballer” Ucanda remarked.

“it is for the purpose to improve your confidence, minimize injury and improve accuracy, and above all to win” she added

At the games Kapchorwa Secondary School was in group B alongside Green Light SS, Broadway High School, Dynamic SS, Y.Y Okot Memorial College, MaryHill High School, Gombe SS, Masindi Army and Amity Secondary School playing Netball contest.

The netball competition was won by St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende, who defeated fellow Wakiso zone representatives Buddo Secondary School.

Netball was among the six sport at USSSA Ball Games II 2024 along with Volleyball, Rugby 7’s, Basketball (3X3), Handball, Athletics and Cross-country.

These games saw teams qualifies for the 2024 FEASSSA Games that will take place at Bukedea Comprehensive and Amus College School
