In a bid to foster development in Masaka, the former Vice President of Uganda H.E. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has handed over land of 10 acres to Masaka people, for the construction of the district headquarters and other developments.
This land is located in Kyambazi in Kyanamukaaka subcounty and this is where the construction of district headquarters, police post, prisons, office of the Rdc and the court is to be done.
Ssekandi noted that this land is to lead to development in masaka through providing different developmental ideas such as employment opportunities, market for businesses around and ready labour force.
He added that he has offered this land to the people of Masaka willingly and he is ready to provide more opportunities to the area sothat people can get achance to change their livelihoods and increase on their income.
The youth representative on Masaka district council Robert Tumwesigye noted that such developments in the area will help to bring services close to people since they could only access all services from masaka city.
The chairman for Kyesiga subcounty in Masaka district, Gordon Mayanja has appealed to the people in Masaka to put away politics from the development that has come to the area so that it benefits all of them.
NRM Secretary in Masaka district Sarah Nakyanzi has urged the district leadership to utilise this land which has been offered to them to the fullest.
People in this area have commended Ssekandi for offering them this land and showed full hopes that they are to gain more opportunities for their development.
