Stadiums have become an issue in the Uganda Premier League and the situation id only worsening by the day.
With several teams struggling to host games currently, Maroons FC have been added to that list.
This comes after the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) banned their stadium-Luzira Prisons Grounds on Thursday.
“The Secretariat is in receipt of two letters from the FUFA Licensing Committee in regard to the status of Luzira Prisons Gounds, reads part of the statement from the Uganda Premier League Secretariat.
“Licensing Committee has re-inspected Luzira Prisons grounds and noted that the field of play has deteriorated due to overuse and heavy rains. The ground will not be able to host SUPL matches with immediate effect until the ground is restored to the recommended playing standards.”
This means that Maroons FC join an ever increasing list of clubs that have to seek for alternative grounds from which they will host their games.
The likes of SC Villa, Kyetume FC, URA FC, Express FC, Bright Stars FC, Police FC and Wakiso Giants FC have all been playing at different stadia in the last few rounds as their venues have been having issues.
Of late, SC Villa had moved to Luzira to host their games but were forced ro host their latest fixture at home to Tooro United FC at Bombo Barracks Stadium on Wednesday.
Relatedly, BUL FC have been given the go ahead to host their games at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja.
This was confirmed in Thursday through the same letter.
“The FUFA Licensing Committee basing on the inspection of Bugembe Stadium-Jinja was confirmed to meet the minimum standards to host SUPL matches. Accordingly, BUL FC has been cleared to host their games at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja with immediate effect.”
BUL FC have been hosting their games at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru since the season started.
