FUFA breaks silence on Tooro utd FC ownership

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has come out with an official statement clarifying on the ownership of Tooro United FC.

This comes days after players of the Uganda Premier League side petitioned the federation, asking about the club ownership.

The players led by captain Timothy Musinguzi wrote to FUFA asking to be notified about the real owner of Tooro United FC so as they approach them concerning their unpaid wages.

It is understood that these players have not been paid for three months now, a situation that prompted most of them not to travel for their home game against Onduparaka FC which was called off on Tuesday with Tooro only able to field four eligible players.

In the letter addressed to the club by FUFA, it is noted that Smart Obadiah and Spelito Ssesanga are the owners Tooro United FC.

“The FUFA Secretariat is in receipt of a letter from Tooro United FC players expressing their concern about their unpaid salaries alleged to have resulted from the unclear ownership status of the club, reads the latter.

“The FUFA Club Licensing Committee has also noted with concern that there are several rumors on different social media platforms about the change of ownership of the club that has not been officially communicated to the committee.

“However, according to FUFA official records, Tooro United FC is owned by Mr. Smart Obeid and Mr. Ssesanga Spelitto with 51% and 49% respectively.”

It is also noted in the latter that FUFA has given Tooro United FC 48 hours to clarify the concerns of players demanding for their salary.

Tooro United FC has been in trouble since the season started.

Under the said new management, head coach Wasswa Bbosa, CEO Moses Tusime and PR Shaban Lubega have all resigned sighting unfavorable working conditions.

They kicked off the second round just a spot above relegation and afte fielding just four players on Tuesday, they are expected to lose the game against Onduparaka and also be docked points.
