FUFA, gov’t, SUMMA contractors inspect the land FUFA offer for the construction of AFCON 2027 stadium in Hoima City

Today, Wednesday January 24th 2024 FUFA officials led by president Hon. Moses Hassim Magog together with government officials led state ministry for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang, the contractors, SUMMA to inspect the land that FUFA offer to the government of Uganda for the construction of an international stadium in Hoima City.

Minister Ogwang has assured the public that government is ready and set to kick off the construction as soon as the land title is transferred to the National Council of Sports.

Hon. Ogwang confidently said.” I took Ms SUMMA to Hoima City for the site visit on the land earmarked for the construction of Hoima National Stadium. I was accompanied by FUFA President, Hon. Eng. Moses Magogo, NCS leadership, Hoima City RCC and other political leaders.

Ms SUMMA is the company identified by Government to undertake construction of Hoima Stadium ahead of the 2027 AFCON.

“As Government, we have a sports structural development plan for the construction of stadia across the country. We shall continue fulfilling our plans in the areas where feasibility study has been undertaken.

“We are now in the final stages of transferring the land title to NCS, Once the transfer is complete, the contractor will be handed over the site during the groundbreaking ceremony that shall be presided over by H.E President Kaguta Museveni and Maama Janet Museveni, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports.”Hon. Ogwang affirmed.

“I call upon the people of Bunyoro sub region to accord maximum and total cooperation to the contractor to facilitate smooth works and deadlines.” He said.

While Hon Moses Magogo, the FUFA president said.” Today as FUFA we took the contractors, SUMMA led by the State Minister of Sports Hon.Ogwang and members of the NCS to inspect the land that fufa took a decision to gladly offer to the government of Uganda for the construction of an international stadium in Hoima City.

“Given the experience and assurance we believe that by 31st December 2025 (the time given by CAF) the stadium will be ready and running ahead of AFCON 2027.” Said Eng. Moses Magogo.
