Vipers SC have reached a mutual agreement with Brazilians; Rodrigues Lopez Giancarlo, Luiz Otavio Santos de Araujo alias Tinga and Ivorian Desire Tety to terminate their contracts effective from today.
The trio have all departed after mutual consent was reached with the club.
Giancarlo became the first Brazilian to play in Uganda when he signed in June and went ahead to score two goals against Tanzania’s Kagera Sugar in an international friendly and Maroons FC in the FUFA Super 8.
The one against Maroons made headlines as it was a stinging free-kick from over 30 yards to the top right corner.
Giancarlo, had signed for two years, managed four official appearances in the prestigious Vipers jersey.
Meanwhile, Tinga came as the second Brazilian player in the country and left after playing a couple of friendly games during pre-season but suffered a long term injury.
The versatile midfielder had signed two years in July but after agreeing with the club, he will depart and return to his native.
On the other hand, Desire Tety leaves after one full season with Vipers that had him win both the Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup.
Ivorian Tety joined the league champions at the start of the 2022/23 season but failed to cement a starting place despite making a couple of appearances off the bench.
Due to stuff competition and injury setbacks, Tety was limited to just five games in the league as well as five in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
“Besides, the injury to Tinga meant he wouldn’t contribute this season yet the club had to spend heavily on him in terms of salary.”
Vipers open their title defence against Gaddafi on Sunday in Jinja.
