Government continues with interventions in Busoga sub region as Minister Kaboyo distributes iron sheets in the region

Minister Kabayo launched the distribution of Iron Sheets in Busoga region

Under the government initiative to fight against poverty among people in the country, it has distributed a total number of 9468 iron sheets to the beneficiaries of Busoga sub region through the state minister in the prime minister’s office for Luwero triangle and Rwenzori region Hon Alice Kaboyo.

While launching the distribution of these iron sheets in the region, Hon Alice Kaboyo urged the leaders in the region to embrace government programs so that they help people get out of poverty, through working closely with her ministry, to make sure that people are well educated, sensitized and mobilized to be part of government programs.

She stressed that government has spearheaded this, through its continuous interventions initiated through the ministry of Luwero triangle to the people of Busoga sub region. She noted interventions such as Parish community associations (PCA) which started from 2019 – 2021, and urged MPs to follow up the money in PCA as they follow up the PDM money.

 Minister talked about the micro projects in 2022-2023 for district local governments where government invested in 57 groups in Busoga sub region with 512, 530, 000 shillings. The construction of 2 classroom blocks in 3 primary schools noting Namayimba in Bugiri district, Bunda in Mayuge district and Nababirye in Kamuli district where it invested 840,000,000 shillings.

Not forgetting the 52746 hand hoes that were bought for the sub region worth 580, 206,000 shillings and pledged that the ministry of Luwero triangle is committed to concentrate on community mobilization, political and technical monitoring of government programs in this financial year, as guided by the president of Uganda.

And then, government has procured 9468 iron sheets worth 672,228,000 to the people in Busoga in the last concluded financial year to support all the 11 districts of Busoga sub region which was handed to the beneficiaries and leaders in the region.

On behalf of the LC 5 Chairperson, the representative for Namagala town council Joseph Ikona commended the government for delivering the long waited service and noted that the region still has groups that need such services yet they are not among the beneficiaries who received the iron sheets. He therefore asked the minister to consider such groups any time the opportunity comes.

The RDC for Jinja district local government Richard Gulume appreciated the government for the iron sheets and noted that the region demands more and more. He mentioned that PDM program is moving on well in the region provided some few challenges which are yet to be solved, and urged leaders in the region to pick interest in the PDM program so that they use it to fight poverty among the people in the region.

The MP for Bunya West Bugiri district Henry Bagiire appreciated the minister for the efforts towards fulfilling the distribution of the iron sheets which has been waited for some time and pledged on behalf of the MPs in the region, to work closely with her ministry to bring affirmative action to reality.

Among the beneficiaries districts such as Bugiri, Bugweri, Buyende, Iganga, Kaliro, Luuka, Mayuge, Namayingo and Namutamba, received 800 iron sheets each, Jinja received 928, Kamuli 810 iron sheets, and various individuals and institutions received 530, totaling to 9468 iron sheets distributed.

The function was attended by RDCs and deputy RDCs in the region, district CAO, political leaders, MPs among others.
