The government through ministry of education, sports, science and technology has confirmed that it will not provide parents fees/tuition amdist preparations to reopen schools.
The revelation made on Thursday at Uganda media centre Kampala by the ministry permanent secretary Alex Kakooza saying, despite parents are stranded with fees/tuitions, but the government is also block and will not afford to make it due Covid 19 pandemic which has affected the economy.
” government has no money to cater for students like providing school fees and tuitions, so let both teachers and parents discuss on how to handle this matter of school fees.” He added.
He says, the government will only provide schools both private and public sanitizers, soaps, and two masks to each and every student, and due to Covid 19 pandemic, it would have been better for each and every school to have a fence to avoid unnecessary movement, so it will need to first inspect schools before official resumption to observe the situation.
According to national program of reopening schools, term II will commence on 15th/10, 2020 to 18th/12/2020, term III will begin on 11th/01/2021 to 30/04/2021, starting with only candidates and finalist in primary, secondary, institution and universities.
Kakooza also disclosed that, they won’t test covid 19 to students because its costly, but all teachers will be tested freely specially those from hotspot covid 19 areas such as Kampala among others.
COMMENCEMENT OF FINAL EXAMINATIONS FOR PLE, UCE AND UACE CANDIDATES.
Registration of the above mentioned candidates will kick off on 22nd/10 up to 20th/11/2020, briefing of UCE candidates will take place on 26th/02/2021, and do their first paper on 1st/03 up to 6the/04/2021.
PLE candidates will get their briefing on 26th/03/2021, and sit for their final exams on 30th up to 31st/03/2021.
UACE candidates will be briefed on 09th/04/2021, and start writing their national final papers on 11th/04 up to 3rd/05/2021.
