Government set to prosecute parents for failure to pack food for their children – Minister Muyingo

The ministry of education through the minister of higher education Mr. John Muyingo has declared that the government will start persecuting parents who do not pack lunch for their children.

According to the Minister of Higher education John Muyingo, parents are surely violating the government policy of free education.

“You must go to school to everyday until you finish your education cycle. However, if your parents refuse to give you food, we shall take them to courts of law very soon” he said.

On Friday while commissioning a newly constructed class room block at Namulonge church of Uganda secondary school.

The minister further explained that educating a child takes different stake holders and therefore the government has done its part in providing free education, paying teachers’ salaries, paying for examinations, stocking laboratories and libraries.

In conclusion, the minister dismissed all claims by parents who say they cannot afford to feed their children in school.

“Uganda is a full basket of food where each parent can find food they can afford” He said
