The Commissioner in charge of Teacher Training at the Ministry of Education Joseph kikomeko has underscored the need to roll out ICT vocationally to promote productivity.

Commissioner kikomeko also put teachers to task to start Preparing for mandatory teaching license renewal as they await the passing of the Teachers’ License Bill.

This was during the opening of the first cohort Training of Master Trainers for ICT of secondary teachers. A total of 8 teachers drawn from across the country are currently undergoing a four days training on Information Communication technology.

The 10 module training of Master Trainers is expected to provide them with knowledge on Computer literacy which will also be rolled out to the over 4000 learner trainers

The training on ICT also has objective of addressing encumbrances that deter learning using technology, impart life skills for competence and promote critical thinking in the dynamic education era

The Commissioner in-charge of Teacher Training at the Ministry of Education and Sports Joseph kikomeko has underscored the need to roll out ICT vocationally to promote productivity.
He noted that embracing ICT is the only way to have competent and productive teachers that can meet the current education demands

During the Training Kikomeko also asked teachers to start preparing for the mandatory teacher licensing. The National Teachers’ Bill, 2023 in waiting will require all teachers to keep renewing their teaching Licenses after every four years upon proof of exposure to professional development.

The Bill will address among others the conduct and professionalism, and also deal with impersonators in the teaching profession

In the Bill approved by Cabinet in 2023, teachers will only be given four years after college to practice and they will be required to renew their licenses before they are allowed to continue practicing
