GRAND REGION CYCLING RACE LAUNCHED, WINNER TO WALKING AWAY WITH LAND TITLE

The grand region cycling race which is scheduled to take place next Sunday, 26th  November have been launched today, Monday November 20th at Sanyuka restaurant, Lubiri, Mengo.

The race is organised by Together we can cycling Uganda (TWC) .

The launch was attended by TWC president,  Solmon Ssabakaki,  Joel Muwanguzi,  TWC treasury,  Abdu Lubega,  cyclist and Kigongo Ssemakula, an official from Uganda Cycling Association.

According TWC president,  Solmon Ssabakaki,  the race will start with brief meeting to all competitors at exactly 7am and then at 9am the competition begins, no numbers will be issued out to competitors on race day.

Three categories will be competed in during the day, these will include, Elite,  Female and old people category where the winner in Elite will walk away with land title from century properties ltd,  the first runner’s up will walk way with motor cycle,  third will take a bull and fourth will take home a sofa set.

In female catergory,  the winner will walk away with 200, 000 Ugandan shilling,  second and third with 200, 000 shilling each while in old catergory, the winner will walk away with 100, 000 shilling.

According to Ssabakaki,  105 km (30 laps) will be competed in Elite catergory,  7km 2 laps) will be competed in female and old catergory.

More than 100 participants are expected to take place on the race day including two champions,  Aziz Ssempijji ,  Ugandan champion and Charles Kagimu,  African champion.

Abdu Lubega,  a cyclist during his press address,  said that he is ready for the competition and it’s only God to judge.

Kigongo Ssemakula,  an official from Uganda Cycling Association,  said that all ready for the Grand region race,  this Sunday.
