Haji Ishaq complaining of ineligible player, Kawempe Muslim Dominate in Football, Kibuli crowned overall as UMEA games 2023 climaxed

Kibuli to beat over other 30 schools and become the overall champions, they won five medals,  three gold medals a silver and a bronze beating Kawempe who had two gold medals all from football, Mbogo High, Kakungulu Memorial and Ngando SS who won medals from different sport disciplines.

The Buganda Kingdom Prince, Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu was the guest of Honor at the closing ceremony of the 2023 tournament that started on Friday 7 April 2023 and he was a witness when is school, Kibuli SS winning a gold in Badminton, boys and girls, table tennis.

At the event prince guided UMEA Schools students about the aims of the games.

“UMEA games started in 1998 with the primary target of creating unity among UMEA founded Schools and promoting health competitions and I thank those who have been organizing for having achieved our goals.

That is how we have managed to witness the mentorship of a lot of national and international stars” prince said in his speech.

“I congratulate all winner from different field that is how it has to be, the whole Idea is to participate but in games we have to get a champion” I thank the host School for hosting us” he added.

Meanwhile; Madinah Islamic SS director,  Haji Ishaq, complained of schools using merchinaries instead of using students.

“Our students played against some players who are of their parent’s age” Haji Ishaq, states.

“Ishaq, went on to say, “We saw some schools fielding players who are non students and are mature.” He added.

Ishaq, also complained of poor feeding of the students, my students  told me that they were poorly feeded during this four days tournament which started on Good friday.

This was the first time, Madinah Islamic ss Nsangi have reached the finals in the UMEA solidarity games after defeating the host,  kawanda ss and Green Light ss in the semi and Quarter finals respectively.

Kibuli ss vs Madinah Islamic ss

Kibuli SS won most of the medals to become the overall winner of UMEA schools Solidarity games since 2018.

Kawempe Muslim SS was dominant in football for both boys and girls, the boy’s team beat Madina Islamic 1-0 on final to win their maiden trophy while at girls side, the final saw both teams for Kawempe Muslim SS, A and B meeting with A beating side B 1-0 to take the gold and silver medal as well.

Mbogo High collected a gold medal and a Silva in girls table tennis.

Host Kawanda SS also couldn’t miss out the medal list therefore they got gold medal from girls Handball, A Sliver in Netball and a bronze in boys badminton. 

Kinaawa Kawempe won a gold in Girls Volleyball, a Sliver in Boys Badminton and a bronze in Boys Volleyball.

Kakungulu Memorial was another school to make it to the medal list with a gold in Boys Handball, a bronze in boys Badminton. 

Ubuntu Hill took a gold in Boys Volleyball plus a bronze in girls volleyball and in table tennis.

Ngando SS won a gold in netball a medal they won in 2018 and 2019.
