The hotel general managers association of Uganda (HOGMAU) has launched a five year strategic plan during the 2024 Annual General Meeting(AGM) held at Noble View hotel in ntinda on on Saturday April 13th.

In this strategic plan, they are aiming at improving the hotel sector in Uganda and among the key points noted includes; acquiring more skills to the general managers and the staff, recruiting professionals in the sector to avoid recruiting relatives and friends who are unskilled and also the association is more keen at mind change.

“The local managers can’t manage five star hotels, so many Ugandans denied such opportunities due to lack of knowledge and skills and later foreigners took the jobs.” They outlined

This sector comprises of all tourists sites that offer accommodations, restaurants and bar facilities such as hotels and lodges therefore in 2020/2021 statistics shows that there are over 6291 hotels in the country contributed about 14 percent of the total business.

In this regard, the association has come up together with the government to increase high quality service delivery towards tourists both local and international.

The chairperson hotel general managers association of Uganda madam Apio Molly said. “The main objective of this association is to bring togetherness and to eliminate selfishness to the hotel owners not to share skills to their managers and the entire staffs.”

Apio, urged all her fellow hotel general managers who have not yet joined the Association to do so because it’s the only way to improve their business and the service delivery to the clients but it’s very sad that most General Managers have not understood the importance of this Association.

Chairperson of HOGMAU Madam Apio Molly also appealed to all stakeholders that there is a need for a collective effort from well wishers for this mighty dreams of this association to be achieved and let’s us be united with one another and contribute whatever we have in all aspects in order to achieve the goals of hotel general managers association of Uganda (HOGMAU).
