President Yoweri Museveni has slammed singer Ronald Mayinja accusing him of singing lies in many of his songs including the ‘Bizzemu’ that is deemed anti government.

Museveni was the guest of honour at Catherine Kusasira’s concert held at Serena Hotel Kampala on Friday, September 20.

In his song ”Bizzemu” Mayinja highlights increasing insecurity, alleged nepotism, corruption in the country that he says are rampant.

In the song, he accuses government of taking a back sit on many of the issues affecting the people including youths unemployment and failure to provide social services on top charging exorbitant taxes on every item.

Mayinja also compares Museveni government to those of past leaders including a figure many Ugandans would rather not remember the late president Idi Amin.

Commenting on popular song, Museveni said he has never killed anyone and that the current murders are being stopped.

Museveni explained that unlike in 1980’s, today the killers are individuals not the government in the power.

He advised Mayinja to stop using music to distort facts and other NRM achievements.

“This is good for entertainment and business, but should never be to the detriment of strides made in bringing our country out being a failed state. For example, I disagree with one of the singers who was saying “Bizeemu”, as if to say that this NRM government is committing crimes against its people!,” he said.

He added: “Artists should use their talents in ways that do not sow divisions based on lies. The government of Uganda is working against all the threats and crimes against Uganda and her people.”

Museveni ordered Police and the Judiciary to expel police bonds and bail requests for murder suspects saying the directive will curb criminality.

He reiterated that the judges should stop granting bail to suspected killers and those found guilty should be sentenced to death.

“Please, Police, I don’t want to hear of a police bond, if you are suspected of killing innocent people, there’s no bond for you, no way! Then the issue of bail. Please, Chief Justice, bail for suspected killers is not acceptable,” Museveni said.

Museveni also bought ‘fanta sodas’ to each reveller in the concert.

Mr Museveni said he is confident that murderers whom will be brought to book.

Ronald Mayinja is among the musicians who recently announced that they would join politics come 2021 just like Bobi Wine.

Mayinja declared before a mammoth crowd at Bobi Wine’s Kyalenga concert in Busabalaba last year that he was to contest for Gomba East MP seat.
