ICC CHALLENGE LEAGUE B LAUNCHED

On Tuesday 8 October, the Uganda Cricket Association was excited to announce that Uganda will host the first round of the Challenge League B tournament from November, 4 -16 ,2024 in a press conference held at Lugogo.

This highly anticipated event will feature six competitive teams:Uganda the host, Tanzania, Bahrain,Singapore, Italy and Hong Kong China.

At the launch ceremony held today at Copper Chimney, Lugogo , Uganda Cricket Association was represented by Jackson Kavuma, NCS by Joseph Oluga who is the assistant General secretary administration while the sponsor was represented by their brand ambassador, Eric Malinga.

The Challenge League B serves as a crucial pathway to the 2027 ICC men’s Cricket World Cup ,which will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.Matches will be held at the prestigious Lugogo Cricket Oval, Kyambogo and Entebbe Cricket Oval, promising a thrilling experience for both players and fans alike.

According to Engineer Fred Lutaaya , the chairman of the Local Organising Committee

“We are thrilled to be hosting the first round of the Challenge League as Uganda .This opportunity reflects the ICC’s confidence in the Uganda Cricket Association as a capable host nation.

Having previously hosted the same event in 2022 and the finals of the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers last year, we see this tournament as an incredible opportunity for our players to showcase their skills .We invite everyone to join us for what promises to be an unforgettable experience”.

According to Joseph Oluga, all is set for the ICC Challenge tournament.

The Local Organising committee is comprised of Eng. Fred Lutaaya as Chairman LOC, Rita Tinka as hospitality coordinator, Richard Okia as team liaison coordinator, Sylvester Rokani as Security Coordinator, Denis Musali as Media Coordinator , Kenneth Mulondo as Accreditation coordinator , Benjamin Musoke as HR coordinator ,Emmanuel Onaria as Accounts coordinator.
