Inter Islamic Secondary Schools games 2024: Madina Islamic, Green Light crowned netball, football champions

The ISS games was successful held over the weekend climaxing with Madina Islamic and Greenlight SS emerging champions in football and netball.

Last year at the third edition held at Hamdan SS Greenlight won the football competition while Madina Islamic won the netball to switch the trophies in the following edition.

The competition which was held at Wakoso Muslims had a rising number of schools taking to 16 having had 13 last year.

Winning the football competition Madina Islamic defeated Qamar High School 1-0 in the final with the goal scored by Umar Mugoya.

In netball Greenlight SS defeated Madina Islamic 16-14 in the final while Bugembe Islamic won the round robin Volleyball marathon over Qamar High School and Buziga Islamic.

The event also had a curriculum competition held at Bilal Islamic Kakiri to see Madina Islamic wining the Public speaking competition and the Girls Qur’an recitation as Bilal Islamic wining the Boys Qur’an recitation while Rabiha Islamic wining the quiz competition.

At the closing of the successfully organised championship Haji Ishaka Mbalirwa said. “We praise and thank the Almighty Allah for the success of the 4th Edition which saw over 16 dual curriculum Islamic Secondary Schools turn up for this edition”

The Association formed in 2019 with the aim of uniting Islamic Secondary Schools that offer both theological and secular studies.

The first staff Football corporate gala held at Emirates College Nkoowe in 2019 saw Ubayyi Islamic SS Bwebajja crowned champions, it was then followed up by U16 Football held at Madinah Islamic SS Nsangi, the first edition attracted 10 schools, Madinah was crowned champions after defeating Hamdan Islamic SS Nakifuma in the U16 finals.

The second edition in 2022 was also held at Madinah and saw Toptimes High School Kyengera defeat Madinah Islamic SS in penalties after a highly contested finals

Third edition in 2023 was held at Hamdan Islamic SS Nakifuma, had Qur’an, Netball and Football, attracted 13 schools.

  • In Qur’an, Kasawo Islamic SS won the contest in boys and Madinah took the Girl’s trophy.
  • In Netball, Madinah Islamic Secondary School defeated Greenlight Islamic Secondary School Nansana to be crowned Champions
  • In Football, Greenlight Islamic Secondary School defeated Madinah Islamic Secondary School to be crowned Champions at Emirates College School Nkoowe.

In 2024, the 4th Edition was held in two phases;
First Phase at Bilal Islamic Institute Kakiri that saw schools participate in Qur’an, Quiz and Public Speaking;

  • Public Speaking Champions, Madinah Islamic SS
  • Quiz Champions, Rabiha High School Bombo
  • Qur’an boys Champions, Bilal Islamic Institute Kakiri
  • Qur’an Girls Champions, Madinah Islamic SS

    ISS chairperson Ishaka Mbalirwa further said. “I take this opportunity to thank all schools that participated in this year’s editions, the hosts, the executive committee and other stakeholders. May the Almighty Allah reward you abundantly”.

The Association is also organising a CBC Workshop on Assessment for teachers, it’ll be held at Madinah Islamic SS Nsangi, dates will also be communicated.
