INTERNAL AFFAIRS, DCIC WARNS AGAINST FRAUD IN PAYMENT,FOR IMMIGRATION SERVICES.
The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration control (DCIC) under the Ministry of internal affairs warned against the fraud in payment for the immigration services.
The honorable Minister of internal affairs Gen J J Odongo, asserted on the fraud in payment for immigration services in the press conference held at Internal Affairs hous on Monday 9th September 2019.
“We noticed an increase in fraudulent acts by unscrupulous individuals, purporting to offer our services to the general public. They always convince applicants including unsuspecting Ugandans and foreigners that they can improve or influence their chances of being considered or granted an approval for a fee”, Gen J J Odongo noted.
“The public should note that the DCIC does not work with agents or dealers and all forged documents including forged payments receipts and verification printouts submitted to support all applications for our services shall be confiscated and subjected to investigations by police”, Honorable Minister added to asserted.
The DCIC have come out to inform the public and strongly advise them to be extra vigilant to avoid falling victim to such unauthorised agent and all the applicants are encouraged to first review the application requirements and procedures so that they get to know what to expect, when to expect it and from whom.
However, the DCIC working closely with police to end this habit and two suspects have been arrested for having found with recovered and exhibited several forged documents, seals and stamps for various Ministries.
The public should knowns the services offered by DCIC and the fee must be paid for in a designated commercial bank before the service offered.
Lastly, any applicant found with forged will be rejected and the applicant may in addition face more serious consequences that include , a permanent record of fraud in their DCIC database, revocation of resident or citizenship status, being charged in court or removal from Uganda if you are a foreigner.
