Pilsner and Bamasaaba have on Tuesday 7th August launched a relationship that sees 50 million Uganda shillings being injected in this year’s Bikuka sports tournament.
This tournament organised by the Inzu y’Abamasaaba, the games that bring together various teams from Masaaba communities from both Uganda and Kenya with common goals of honouring of culture, promoting unity and developing Bamasaaba people through games and sports.
2019 tournament is expected run for a period of two month, starting from 10th August to October 2019, with the five districts that make up the Obumasaaba, these include : Mbale, Bududa, Sironko, Bulambuli, Manafwa in Uganda and Kenya chapter which covers Trans Nzoia and Bungoma.
will take place in Masaaba land. The games are expected to run for five consecutive months with an aim of promoting unity in the region.
While announcing the sponsorship in a press conference held at Uganda Breweries headquarters in Luzira, the brand manager pilsner lager, Mr. Edgar Kiwumulo said, “this is the second edition running in Masaaba land, the first edition was also sponsored by Uganda Breweries Limited and it was a wonderful opportunity for the people of Bumasaaba to celebrate their culture and tradition together.
The sponsorship package for this year’s tournament involves physical Pilsner beer brand awareness in the region and giving accolades and prize to the best athletes worthy, “he added.
The tournament will involve Football, netball and bicycle racing, for a full week unlike in the first edition which only football.
Big league and Uganda Premier League players are not allowed to participate in these competitions since they have been established.
