IT’S PATRICIA KAWUMA AGAIN AS TECH FOR THE WORLD ANNUAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP CLIMAXED

The three day TECH for the World annual Chess Championship which was a residential come to climax with Patricia Kawuma, who was being the favorites walked away with scholarship bursary for one year ( 3 terms) after winning the girls secondary section. Patricia, a S4 student at Pride College, Mpigi started this Championship as the favourite and went on winning the Championship adding to that she won recently at the inter-project Chess championship.

This TECH (Technology and Education through charity help) for the World annual Chess Championship was played for three days from 22, Jan – 24,Jan at sports outreach ministry resource center, Kiwawu, Mityana Road.

The four winners, each won a scholarship bursary for one year and these winners include, Reagan Male , a 13 years old at a student of Evergreat P/S in P7 won the boys primary section, Janet Nakatudde, a P7 student at Green Light P/S in Makindye won the girls primary section, Shafick won in boys secondary section while Patricia Kawuma, a S4 student of Pride College won the girls secondary section.

Meanwhile, all the four silver medalist also won themselves a two terms scholarship while the bronze medalist won a one term scholarship .

“I thank God to enable me to perform well because all eyes was on me”, Patricia states.

The funder of this Championship ,Karl Reese (founder of TECH) who was also the chief guest promised to funding this Championship every year. Karl, said all this through a video zoom and he is currently in America.

This Championship was only played by students from Som Chess academy from Gulu, Hoima, Masaka, Kiboga and Kampala suburbs of Kawempe, Katwe, Natete and Kibuli and were 156 in numbers.

” It was excellent because we ended it according to our timings “,Robert Katende, CEO of Som Chess academy and also a Fide instructor states.

Medals and certificates were other prizes given out to winners and participants.
