Shock overshadowed residents of Kibuli, Makindye Division – Kampala District on Wednesday December 27th following an incident that claimed the lives of two glittered lovers.

Arnold Ssenkungu, 24 – a barber and his 21-year old girlfriend Shina Atwine – a student at IUIU are said to have developed sharp contradictions in their affair leading to the incident, according to eyewitnesses.

Both were residents of Kibuli Mosque Zone, who tragically lost their lives in an incident, which their neighbour, Frank Sserunjoji reported.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Sserunjogi discovered fresh blood coming from Senkungu’s locked house – alerting neighbours, who forced their entry – only to find him struggling for his life – succumbing to injuries on arrival at Kibuli Hospital. Atwine had been found lifeless with a deep neck wound in the same house.

“A new knife with fresh blood stains and witness statements were pivotal to the investigation.

“Senkungu had multiple injuries, and it is alleged that the couple, exhibited signs of a trouble marriage,” noted Owoyesigyire in a press statement released on Wednesday evening.

Eyewitness narrated that had Atwine confided in a friend how his boyfriend had betrayed her. “She purchased a new knife very early in the morning,” recalled Gerald Kayindi – one of neighbours who claimed to have been at the shop at the time of the transaction.

Mariam Nakintu – another neighbour claims that Senkungu had spent most the Christmas Holidays enjoying with unidentified woman who returned from from Saudi Arabia where she was working as a maid

The bodies were conveyed to City Mortuary for a post-mortem ahead of Senkungu’s planned burial on Thursday in Luwero.

However, there was chaos at the scene of incident as Atwine’s father (whose name couldn’t be readily established) attacked his wife for marrying off his daughter without his knowledge. The man, who spoke in a heavy Western Uganda accent, explained that he had sent his daughter to study and had been constantly disbursing tuition and as well as hostel fees through her mum but was shocked to learn that she was married. He attacked his wife – slapping her in anger – leading to confusion as the late Senkungu’s friends reacted in a similar fashion towards him.

“He calmed down on learning that his wife had arranged the daughter’s secret marriage claiming that his husband had died,” revealed Derrick Muhereza, another resident.
