Judicial Service Commission appoints Assistant Registrars and 87 grade one Magistrates

 The Judicial Service Commission, (JSC) of Uganda has appointed 5 Assistant Registrars in acting capacity, and 87 Magistrates Grade One on probation in the Judiciary Service. This was during a Commission meeting held on 12th June 2023.

These appointments are in response to declaration of vacancies by the Judiciary.
According to Justice Benjamin I Kabiito, the Chairperson of the Commission, the appointment of 87 Magistrates Grade One will help bring Judiciary services closer to the people at county level and facilitate improved access to justice.

The 5 Assistant Registrars are Namutebi Christine Kellen, Tumwebaze Kenneth, Nankya Nusulah, Naluyima Rania and Atigo Hellen

The 87 grade one Magistrates on probation are Rekyeraho Obed, Muhumuza Moses, Nassuna Yvonne Grace, Kwagala Winnifred Sarah, Nagaddya Joanitah, Gonzaga Mbalangu, Mukuru Joshua, Pauline Martha Kamuli, Muzeyi Vincent, Nyombi Catherine, Nanyanga Susan, Francis Okullu, Ogenrwot Micheal, Nasasira Josephine, Apaderet Marion, Kakoma Edgar, Tamale Badru, Emwogu Gerald, Wangubo Enock Brighton, Namara Caroline,  Mutabaazi Fred, Tendo Anne, Prince Annan, Ojara Byron Pau, Nakayenze Maureen, Adong Gloria, Tusabe Edith, Ola Gabriel, Baguma Aron, Odongoi Simon Peter, Kalondo Paul James, Riziki Nambuya, Twinokwesiga Micheal, Akena Junior, Ochieng Augustine, Turyasingura Constance, Tendo Deogratious, Julian Natukunda, Wahab Amina, Mushime Moses, Mugisha Ruth, Khalayi Moreen, Buhungiro Benjamin, Sulaiman Kawuzi, Namwanje Sarah, Ssengendo Saad, Kibirige Apollo Kasujja, Kalende Timothy, Akankwasa Dallen, Itogot Amy Amina, Akol Bonny, Baagala Esther Luyiga, Mugizi Obed, Talemwa Johnson, Rwingabo Roger, Nakasiita Sarah, Watzemba Vincent, Nakimbugwe Faridah, Lyagoba Frank. The Judicial Service Commission is a Constitutional body established under Article 146 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, whose mandate is to recruit judicial officers and regulate their conduct. It is a specialized appointing Commission enjoying broad oversight functions in relation to services delivered to the people by the Judiciary. The mandate and functions of the Commission are defined under Articles 146-151 of the Constitution.
