Kabaka of Buganda His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has officially opened the 31 lukiiko of Buganda. This lukiiko is one of the main happenings that take place after the Kabaka’s coronation in the kingdom which takes place on 31/07 every year.
Before he joined the rest of the people in the lukiiko, His Majesty started with visiting the royal drums called Mujaguzo and then took photos with the new cabinent members and other members, then joined those in lukiiko.
First, the new caibent members extended gratitude before the King for giving them chance to serve and pledged to work hard in fufilling their duties and responsibilities as the king wants.
While speaking to the members, His Majesty encouraged farmers never to give up on farming however much there are on going challenging in agriculture around the country and the increasing prices of goods.
His Majesty therefore called upon goverment to strengthen Agricultural education among the subjects being taught in schools upto secondary level, sothat students are trained agricultural skills right from schools sothat by the time they join the sector, they know what they are doing.
The Kabaka has also shown concern over people who are evicted from land but the rulings for the land cases take too long. He appealed to whoever is responsible in hearing land cases to make rulings as soon as possible so that people can get justice on their land.
The Katikkiro of Buganda Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga started by congratulating the king upon His 30th coronation Anniversary and pledged on behalf of the Kingdom servants to work hard to fulfill their callings.
The Katikkiro has also pledged before the King to make sure that they work together to highlight the 5 pillars of Buganda Kingdom so that they attain the kingdom development as the Kings instructs them.
Among the new cabinet members who have pledged before the king are minister of cabinet Owek. Noah Kiyimba, minister for education and health Owek. Cotilda Nakate, minister for youth and sports Owek. Robert Sserwanga, the kingdom spokesperson Owek. Israel Kazibwe, among others.
The function was attended by David Kintu Wassajja, Katrina Ssangalyambogo, Chrispine Junju, former Katikkiro Dan Muliika and Mulwanyammuli Ssemwogerere, religious leaders, MPs, Buganda chiefs at different levels and other people.
