Gaddafi Integrated Academy, shocked the Kampala Region girls football defending champions Kawempe Muslim SS in the USSSA 2023 regional qualifiers game played on Thursday at Kakungulu Memorial playground.
The only goal of the game was scored by Joweria Nagadya, the game ended 1-0.
Joweria Nagadya gave Gadaffi a lead through a spot kick following intentional handball from Kawempe Muslim SS skipper Samalie Nakacwa, she punched the ball to save the goal, the incharge referee clearly saw her and sent her off the pitch with a straight red card.
Kawempe through Shakira Nyinagahirwa and Rebecca Nakato tried to bounce back into the game as both hit the crossbar until the end of the game.
The win put Gaddafi Integrated in the second place behind table leaders Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga, Kawempe Muslim SS finished third .
The Kampala Region USSSA girls football Qualifiers, this year played in a round robin format and the qualifiers attracted six schools, four of them qualified to semifinals which will be played on Friday 14th April before the final on Saturday 15th April 2023 at the same venue.
Prior to the defeat, Kawempe Muslim and Uganda Martyrs who beat Gaddafi Integrated shared spoils.
The games were played at Kibuli Secondary School and Kakungulu Memorial.
Uganda Martyrs, Ghadaffi Integrated, Kawempe Muslim SS and Rubaga Girls made to semifinals.
At semifinals, Kawempe Muslim SS will again play against Gaddafi Integrated while, Rubaga Girls and Uganda Martyrs will face off.
