Kanyabwanga S S wins Coca-Cola collect and schools competition.

On Thursday morning, Coca-Cola awarded the schools, students and teachers who collected the most plastic as part of the Copa Coca-Cola recycle and win competition.

1,463 schools participated in the tournament competing for a chance to get their school pitches refurbished by Coca-Cola company as well as other prizes such as goal posts, nets, brand new 32 inch TV sets and Mobile Phones.

Kanyabwanga Secondary School emerged southern region and overall winners having collected 9,100Kg of plastic. The school received Shs8.5m to refurbish and have a standardized football pitch.

From the East, Kitimbwa Bright Future in Kayunga prevailed with 4,500Kg while Buddo SS was the best in Central region with 2,500Kg of plastic collected. Teso Integrated S.S, collected 1,630Kg to win the Northern region. Each school walked away with a cheque of Shs 4.5 million for refurbishment of pitches.

Byamugisha Osward, also a teacher at Kanyabwanga S.S and Kenneth Akuguzibwe, a student from Kasese S.S emerged overall best teacher and student respectively.

Byamugisha won a brand new laptop while Akuguzibwe won a scholarship of Shs 2.5 million.

Sam Kangave, the Manager Plastic recycling industries Coca-Cola Beverages applauded the schools.

The Copa Coca-Cola Schools event has established players such as Allan Okello, Timothy Awany, Ismail Kazibwe, Emmanuel Okwi, Joseph Kabagambe, Tony Odur, Karim Watambala, Bashir Mutanda, Geoffrey Wasswa, Pius Wangi among others.
