Kataka FC issue a Statement After Adjumani TC players were beaten badly off at Mbale

FUFA Big League side Kataka FC have released a statement following ugly attacks on Adjumani TC FC players.

On Thursday, after the their 4-2 win over Adjumani, six of Adjumani TC players were injured after attacks from what is said to be Kataka fans.

It was said that these players tried to retrieve their phone that was snatched by unknown person, who was said to be a Kataka fan.

And in the process, they were beaten, sustained injuries and rushed to Mbale hospital.

But following all the ugly incidents, Kataka has released a statement and have refuted all these claims saying that it was the gangs that attacked the affected players and not in any way connected to the fans of Kataka FC as a team.

The club also added that their CCTV cameras captured all these happenings and that these incidents happened over 40 minutes after the end of the game.

The statement from Kataka reads reads as follows below:

Greetings to all the sports fraternity.

“It has been brought to our attention as Kataka FC that our visitors of Adjumani FC were brutalized by a few elements purported to be Kataka FC fans at the end of our game which had smoothly ended in a 4:2 win in favor of Kataka FC. Kataka FC would wish to clarify as follows:

1- That unscrupulous individuals acting on their own behalf, snatched a phone that belonged to a player of Adjumani FC player while in the comfort of their coaster outside the stadium gates. Luckily, CCTV cameras mounted outside the facility could have captured these happenings.

2- That in the bid to try and recover the stollen phone, Adjumani players chased the alleged thief towards the thieves alleged stronghold. Unfortunately, they fell into the hands of these gangs who pounsed on them culminating into serious injuries as witnessed in the several online pictorial evidences circulating on several social media handles.

“Kataka FC as a football club, would like to distance itself from such acts and also make it clear that these were acts of individuals not in any way connected to the fans of Kataka FC as a team.

The club also added that it does not condone hooliganism and would like to take part in providing information that could help in apprehending the perpetrators of the same.

Despite their released statement, It’s strong to remember that Kataka, at the end of last season, were involved in a similar incident against Kyetume FC at the same venue.

A fan punched an assistant referee while two Kataka FC players tortured a Kyetume player and Police was forced to use tear gas to bring back everything to normal.

A statement and ruling from the FUFA competitions department will be expected to be out concerning all the ugly incidents that transpired at the mbale stadium.
