Buganda Katikkiro Owek Charles Peter Mayiga has launched the Luwalo Lwange project 2024 for people to start bringing in their contributions towards supporting the development of the Kingdom.
During the Luwalo Lwange launch at Bulange Mengo, Katikkiro challenged parents to look for schools which they can afford to avoid the pressure and challenges associated with the demand for the money and services from very expensive schools.
Owek Mayiga encouraged parents to trust the schools where they take their children since they all learn the same things at the end of it all. He challenged government to equip government schools to the standards so that parents can comfortably take their children to such schools knowing that they can get the same services like those in private schools.
He emphasised that parents should work hard to support their children’s education and emphasised that children can be successful even when they don’t go through very expensive schools.
However, Owek Mayiga commended URA for withdrawing their plan of taxing luwalo project and asked them to reduce taxes on the Buganda taxable projects and encouraged people in their different groups to contribute competitively so that they emerge the best.
Minister for local government in Buganda Kingdom Owek Joseph Kawuki appreciated the Kabaka for His good leadership that has enabled people to support kingdom activities and as well commended the Katikkiro for transparently utilising the contributions given to the kingdom by its people with tangible developments which has motivated people to continue contributing willingly.
Owek. Kawuki also represented the Katikkiro to reward the best counties in the Luwalo Lwange project 2023 and Sub counties from Bulemeezi county plus different individuals started this year’s luwalo contributions with 58.24 million shillings.
