Residents who cross from Gomba district to Kalungu and the neighgbouring areas have appealed to the Uganda National Roads Authority to help them with the different challenges they face during the time they spend using the bridge.

This comes at a time when the Uganda National roads authority is making efforts to fully repair the bridges that were affected by the breakdown of Katonga river on masaka road, with the areas that cross between Gomba and Kalungu district, making transport means difficult for residents who use it.

In the areas where the river crosses Kiryannongo Kifampa village at the boarder of Gomba kalungu district, residents say that they have to use engine boats as means of crossing the bridges, but the boat owners charge them alot of money to transport them and their goods.

Residents mentioned that for someone to be given access to cross the bridge, it depends on the  size of the laguage he/she is carrying, noting that those who cross with bodabodas are charged 15000 shillings and others range between 5000 shillings to 10,000 Shillings.

These residents complain that those who reside in Gomba and work in Kalungu find transport very difficult and expensive to move everyday yet they even take too long to wait for the boat to fully load for it to start moving, which affect their businesses.

On the other hand, those who are working around this area have shown concern over lack of toilets yet the area is being used by many people which makes the health of the people around at risk.

The chairman for Kifampa village Fenekansi Serwadda noted that many businesses have been damaged due to the fact that traders who used to move their businesses from Gomba to Kalungu find it hard to cross, which has greatly affected them. He therefore called upon those in authority to help them before things get out of hand.
