In preparation for the FUFA Big League debut appearance, Katwe United FC has on Friday 9th August 2019 renewed contracts of eleven players pending monitoring performance of the rest of team.
The event took place at the Katwe United FC offices in Makindye.
Among the players whose contracts have been renewed are team Captain Mukwaya Reagan alias Sadat, Ssendiisa Nicolas, Ssemwanga Saul, Muwanguzi Benjamin, Shafiq Moses, Lwetute Denis, Lubowa Michael, Ssemwogerere Wasswa, Katumba Alex, Bukenya Moses and Mulindwa Rayan. So far, these have been confirmed to be with the team starting with the upcoming season.
The terms and conditions and other details of the signed contracts remain confidential between the players and the Club.
Addressing the media after today’s exercise, the team’s head coach, Hassan Mubiru, expressed confidence in his players affirming that they are in the league to compete.
“Whoever thinks that Katwe United is comfortable only remaining in the Big League is joking. We have bigger aspirations which we must achieve. We have never dreamt of being a mid-table team, no. We aspire to be on top and cruise to the Premier League next season,” said Mubiru.
The club is expected to unveil a number of new players next week to continue strengthening all its departments.
For the last three weeks, the team has been conducting pre-season training with emphasihis on circuit training at SEB Hotel for the first two weeks, intending to develop muscle power and endurance.
Players engaged in squat jumps, dumbbell push press, knee lifts with medicine ball, crunch with lateral pull down and wall slides.
But, since Monday this week, the boys have been training from our home, Katwe Playgrounds.
The ‘Tulibanyiivu’ side will host their FUFA Big League home games at KCCA Stadium Lugogo.
