Kampala Capital City Authority speaker and Lubaga North MP aspirant Abubaker Kawalya has responded to the allegations that were slapped on him by Lubaga North incumbent Moses Kasibante as he was announcing his next course of action after failing to get the NUP ticket.

On Saturday last week, Kasibante criticized the vetting committee of NUP after the party denied him the ticket for the Lubaga North seat.

“NUP limited us to a process called vetting in determining candidates of various positions of leadership. The challenges are enormous but the solutions are not there, what it has done is what it would do,” he said.

Kasibante said many of the nominated flag bearers in NUP are National Resistance Movement (NRM) agents.

“Hajj Abubaker Kawalya enjoys a political marriage with the NRM and his bid to become speaker was morally and financially supported by the state, everybody knows this.

Kawalya works for NRM and this was evidenced when he was overwhelmingly supported and voted by NRM councilors to become KCCA speaker,” Kasibante said.

Kawalya while meeting a group of NUP loyalists and his supporters who had gathered at his home on Monday morning to congratulate him upon wining the NUP ticket for the Lubaga North Parliamentary seat.

“If you have not been able to hold a press conference and talk about the issues affecting people in your constituency and you choose to hold it after four and a half years; that is a total shame. I do not want to talk about or have anyone asking me about what he (Kasibante) said because I am a person who does not attach value to something that does not have it. We say we shall see them from their deeds,” he said.

Kawalya added that when Kasibante entered the National Unity Platform party, he did not understand its objectives but all he was after was the party ticket.

“People have revealed their true colours, those we have been regarding as calm people just because you failure to get a Party ticket and start fighting?” he asked.

Moses kasibante who has represented Lubaga North for two terms will be seeking re-election as an Independent candidate but he seems to have a stiff competition from the NUP candidate Abubaker Kawalya and the for legislator for the constituency, Minister for Lands, who is the NRM flag bearer, Betty Kamya.
