Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC all but sealed their slot into the Championship playoffs of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Super League after nicking a hard-fought win over Makerere University on Friday.

Allen Nassazi scored the lone goal of the game, coming in the 19th minute and this eventually turned out to be the decisive moment of the game.

The goal meant Nassazi took her scoring tally to three and she is currently the top scorer.

Despite missing three of their players, Kawempe Muslim held on to seal maximum points.

Striker Juliet Nalukenge and defenders Asia Nakibuuka and Stella Musubika were all not available for Friday’s game.

Makerere University started on the front foot and Rebecca Nakasato nearly scored inside the opening minute of the game but she arrived late and failed to tap home from Amina Nababi’s cross.

Kawempe had got two superb chances in succession with Margaret Kunihira and Hadijja Nandago were all missed.

In the 19th minute, Nassazi beat Makerere University defence for pace before firing a low drive into the right bottom corner.

The second half was largely full of half chances from either side amidst the scorching sunshine but Kawempe Muslim did just enough to earn all three points.

Kawempe Muslim is now top of the table with 9 points and will wait for results from tomorrow’s games.

Both Kampala Queens and Uganda Martyrs are now level on points but Kawempe Muslim has a superior goal difference of five.

Kampala Queens will play Makerere University while Uganda Martyrs take on Tooro Queens on Saturday.
