KCCA advises residents

Residents of Kampala have been advised to join Kampala capital city Authority (KCCA) to make the city clean hence eliminating diseases.

On Sunday 19th, Uganda joined on the world to mark the world City Cleanup Day that is cerebrated every 19th September.

Dorothy Kisaka the Executive Director of KCCA while at Lubigi sewarage Treatment plant said that it’s rainy season and at least each Corner of Kampala receives running water which at times contaminated hence spreading diseases like cholera, Diarrhea among others so people must be vigilant to stop this in Kampala City.

Kisaka says that clean city commences at home so each family must be connected on sewarage system to allow wastes be collected for use.

She has disclosed that, KCCA collects 60% of wastes in Kampala so the 40% left must be worked upon by public to make sure that Kampala is clean.

Kisaka together with other stakeholders in celebration of the city cleanup day visited various waste recycling places among which include, Wankoko waste recycling plant, Lubigi treatment plant where water for People NGO in conjunction with KCCA has launched a project aiming at recycle wastes to make brickets for cooking.

Kisaka further called upon public to stop littering but instead collect it for further use.
