The Construction and maintenance works on most of the City roads undertaken by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) have commenced.
The Maintenance works started with Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road last week, 5th Street industrial area, Gabba road Junction and Queen’s way.
Speaking to the press during the inspection of the work at Sir Apollo Kaggwa road, KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka revealed that there is still need for local leaders to help KCCA in inspecting the ongoing works.
“We need your cooperation. Since the forward maintenance is done in your area, you need to work hand in hand to see this work done”, Kisaka said.
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) got two loans; USD175 million from World Bank for the Kampala Institutional & Infrastructure Development Project of May 2015 and USD 288 million from the African Development Bank for the Kampala City Roads Rehabilitation project of 2021.
The KCCA Project Coordinator, Edson Masereka had told the the Committee of parliament on National Economy on Monday February 13th 2023 that the project covered 70Kms of roads, with works which included reconstruction and upgrading and also included installation of street lights, signalization of junctions and pedestrian crossings, and drainage systems.
