KCCA FC draws Namibia’s African Stars in CAF Champions League.

CCA FC have been drawn to face Namibian Champions, African Stars in the CAF Champions League preliminary qualifying round.

This was confirmed on Sunday, July 21st 2019, when the qualifying draws were announced.

The Kasasiros won the ticket to represent Uganda in Africa’s premier club competition following their Uganda Premier triumph in the 2018/19 season.

KCCA who won the CECAFA Kagame cup on the same Sunday 21st July will play the first leg away from home.

It was also confirmed that the first leg will be played between 9th and 11th August at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Zambia.

The second leg will then take place in Kampala, between the 23th and 25th of the same month (August).

The winner between KCCA FC and African Stars will take on the winner of the tie between Metlama of Comoros and Angola’s Petro de Luanda in the first round of the qualifiers.

The dates for the first round have also been confirmed with the first leg happening between the 13th and 15th of September while the return leg will take place between 27th and 29th of the same month.

From there, the winners will qualify to the group stages of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.

At the draws conducted on Sunday, only three teams were given a bye into the first round. The threw in question are DR Congo’s TP Mazembe, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Tunisia’s Esperance de Tunis.

The winner of the 2018/19 competition is yet to be determined as Esperance and Wydad Casablanca will have to face off again in the final rescheduled for this month.

Last year, Uganda was represented by Vipers SC who fell to Algeria’s CS Constantine in the preliminary round one.

Initially, the Venoms had eliminated El Merrikh in the preliminaries.

For KCCA FC, they were in the CAF Confederations Cup where they fell at the playoff round

The Kasasiros took care of Tanzania’s Mtibwa Suger in the first round before losing 2-3 to AS Otoho of Congo in the playoff.

KCCA FC were the last Ugandan club to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League. An achievement achieved in 2017/2018 season.
