Kigezi farmers recieve support from Nile breweries

Over 1000 farmers from Kabale and Rubanda districts have received support through literacy skills from Nile breweries as away of helping them to improve their financial planning, budgeting, book keeping, credit management skills and investment.

During the training, the head of legal and corporate affairs Emmanuel Njuki noted that the training is part of the company’s objective to improve on the standard of living of the farmers, through financially empowering them so that that they yield from their investments.

As sorghum and barley are  used in the production process, Nile breweries has 25,000 contracts with farmers (15000 for barley and 10000 for sorghum) in the Eastern, Northern and south western Uganda .

Njuki revealed that the company purchases produce worth 109.3 annually from farmers, thereby providing ready markets to their crops and increase on their income.

Nile breweries agriculturist team leader in the south western region Bob Mutegeki said that the financial literacy training also aims at farmers to get enough information and access towards

credit facilities so that they can be able to invest more in there businesses, since access to credit facilities is one of the major challenges that they are facing.

Farmers who attended the training extended their gratitude towards Nile breweries for equiping them with the new skills which they say will help the improve on their financial management and grow their farming businesses.

This training was held under the theme, financial empowerment of farmers.
