Kyaggwe, Buddu, Buweekula, Kyaddondo Take Quarterfinal Lead

The first leg of the Buganda Masaza Cup quarterfinals kicked off on Sunday, with Buddu, Buwekula, Kyaggwe, and Kyaddondo securing crucial victories.

 Kyaggwe exacted a revenge on Ssingo with a 1-0 win, courtesy of David Mugalu’s first-half strike. Ssingo had previously defeated Kyaggwe at home and away during the group stages.

The approach brought Ssingo in the game to set up Kyaggwe defender Godfrey Arijole posting a man of the match performance.

Kyaggwe Coach Steven Mutono in the post match was already turned focus on the return leg.

“All praise be to the Lord who given us this win, the fans have been fantastic for us but I call them upon the return fixture on 29 September, I am assuring you the job is getting done in Mityana, Ssingo beaten Us at group stage it has been a good pay back and they still have a debt”

Ssingo went into the game without Charles Okello Batiibwe, Ryan Figo Kizito and Elvis Ssekajjugo who are in Under 20 national team camp ahead of Africa Under 20 championship.

Two-time competition winners, Buddu, earned a 2-0 away win against Kabula, thanks to goals from Akram Juma Katende and Mike Walaga.

Katende opened the scoring in the first half, while Walaga sealed the win with a second-half goal.

Buwekula were the other away victors, narrowly defeating Mawokota 1-0 at Buwama playground.

Fahad Aniku’s first-half goal was enough to give Felix Ssekabuza’s side an advantage going into the second leg.

In another closely contested match, Kyaddondo triumphed 1-0 over Busujju, with Samuel Kisozi netting the only goal of the game in the first half.

The return leg fixtures are scheduled for Sunday September 29, with the aggregate winners advancing to the semifinals.
