Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to hold face-to-face talks with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Tuesday to discuss his future at the club.

The 24-year-old was seemingly on the verge of securing his dream move to Real Madrid last summer before performing a U-turn and penning a new two-year contract with PSG that included a 12-month extension.

However, PSG have since been left stunned after allegedly receiving a letter from Mbappe confirming that he has no intention of activating the option to extend his deal until 2025, allowing him to walk away from the club for free in the summer of 2024.

PSG president Al-Khelaifi admitted earlier this month that he was left “shocked” and “disappointed” to learn of Mbappe’s decision not to commit his future to 2025, but he has ruled out the prospect of the star forward leaving the club for free in a years’ time.

Al-Khelaifi has also confirmed that Mbappe has a two-week deadline to make a final decision on his future at the Parc des Princes, and has refused to rule out the possibility of selling the France international this summer.

Despite opting against triggering a contract extension, Mbappe has continuously insisted that he is keen to remain in the French capital for the 2023-24 campaign, before making a decision on his future next summer.

Nevertheless, Sky Sports News reports that Mbappe is set to meet Al-Khelaifi on Tuesday for the first time since allegedly handing in his letter of confirmation against his contract renewal.

The report adds that Mbappe will be told again that he has until July 31 to commit his future to PSG until 2025 or else the club will look to sell him to the highest bidder this summer.

It is thought that Mbappe intends to see out the rest of his contract and is reportedly prepared to sit on the bench for the entire 2023-24 campaign in order to stay put this summer.

Al-Khelaifi is said to be giving a speech to PSG’s first-team squad at their new £250m training complex on Tuesday, where he will address the importance of the perennial Ligue 1 champions giving their full support to newly-appointed head coach Luis Enrique.

Mbappe reported back to PSG training on Monday for the first time since his contract saga with the club surfaced last month, and he underwent compulsory medical examinations ahead of training with his teammates on Tuesday.

Should Mbappe and Al-Khelaifi come to an agreement to part ways this summer, Real Madrid stand out as the obvious candidate in the race for his signature, but it remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants can afford to splash the cash on the Frenchman having already spent big on luring Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

A possible switch to the Premier League has also been mooted for Mbappe, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all understood to be monitoring his situation.

However, both Arsenal and Liverpool are allegedly not actively pursuing a move for PSG’s No.7 this summer, while it is thought that Man United will only step up their interest if Qatari investor Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani completes a takeover of the club.

Meanwhile, PSG are believed to be looking at potential replacements for Mbappe, with Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic allegedly at the top of their wishlist that also includes the likes of Atalanta BC’s Rasmus Hojlund and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
