Liverpool’s bid to secure a Europa League spot for next season will face the latest challenge ahead of their Monday match at Elland Road against Leeds United, who find themselves perilously close to the relegation places.

Liverpool’s last league match resulted in a 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Anfield to extend their winless streak to four (W0 D2 L2), leaving them in eighth place on 44 points. The Reds have scored 50 goals and conceded 35 through 29 matches, leaving them trailing fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur by nine points for a spot in the Europa League.

Leeds United sit in 16th place on 29 points, just two points ahead of the relegation zone with eight matches left. Leeds lost their last Premier League match 5-1 at home against Crystal Palace.

Leeds won the last Premier League meeting between the sides, coming out on top 2-1 at Anfield in October. Rodrigo scored first for the Whites in the fourth minute. Crysencio Summerville also was on the scoresheet. Mohamed Salah scored the Reds’ lone goal in the 14th minute.

Looking at players who have made a difference in 2022/2023, Liverpool’s leading attacking threat has been Salah, who has scored on 13 occasions, including five match-opening goals.

Rodrigo has caught the eye for Leeds this season. The attacker is the side’s leading scorer with 11 goals, four of which have been the tone-setting first of the match.

Hosts Leeds have five wins, five draws, and five losses this season in 15 Premier League contests at Elland Road.

In league matches away from Anfield this season, Liverpool have earned 13 points from 45 available (W3 D4 L8). The Reds are on a four-match away winless streak (W0 D2 L2). They haven’t won away since February 18 against Newcastle United.

In their last six league matches, Leeds have won two, drawn one and lost three. Liverpool, meanwhile, have won two, drawn two and lost two in their last six.
