Champions League hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur continue their attempt to cement a berth in next season’s tournament at Anfield on Sunday when they travel to face Liverpool, who have hopes of staying in the hunt for a place in the Europa League.

Tottenham Hotspur are in fifth place on 54 points, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United who currently hold a spot in the Champions League. Sixth-placed Aston Villa, the first club outside of the Europa League position, are level on points with Spurs. Liverpool are placed seventh on 53 points, a point behind Tottenham for a spot in the Europa League.

Tottenham Hotspur played out a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their last Premier League match to extend their winless streak to three (W0 D1 L2). Liverpool won their last Premier League match 2-1 at London Stadium against West Ham United, extending their unbeaten streak to five (W3 D2 L0).

When the two sides last met in Premier League action, Liverpool triumphed 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November. Mohamed Salah led the Reds with goals in the 11th and 40th minute. Harry Kane scored Spurs’ lone goal in the 70th minute.

Liverpool have got the better of Tottenham of late, unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League matches (W7 D3 L0). Tottenham are looking for their first league win in games between the two clubs since October 2017. The Reds have outscored Spurs 19-11 during their unbeaten streak.

Delving into the stats for the season, Tottenham Hotspur’s leading attacking threat has been Kane, who has netted on 24 occasions, including nine match-opening goals. He ranks second in the league’s scoring charts in 2022/2023.

The performances of Salah have been important for Liverpool this season. He is the team’s top scorer with 16 goals, which is tied for the fourth highest in the league, five of those having been the critical first of the match.

Hosts Liverpool have been formidable at home this season with 10 wins, four draws, and just one loss in 15 Premier League contests. The Reds will be out to prolong an eight-match home unbeaten streak (W6 D2 L0) dating to November 2022 against Southampton.

Tottenham have five wins, five draws, and six losses away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season in league matches. Spurs currently find themselves on a five-match away winless streak (W0 D2 L3). The last time they earned a win away was January 23 against Fulham.

In their last six league matches, Liverpool have won three, drawn two and lost one. Tottenham, meanwhile, have won one, drawn three and lost two in their last six.
