Police has directed people using Masaka road beyond Busega to use the road known as Lukadde which is along Nateete traffic lights to Kyengera then proceed to other destinations.

This is because Masaka road has been closed between Busega and Kyengera due to damage and police has marked the damaged part as away of warning drivers to be careful while driving along the damaged areas.

The Community Liaison Officer for the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, SP Michael Kananura stated that traffic police and Uganda National Roads Authority Engineers are currently assessing the damages to work on them.

UNRA spokesperson Allan Sempebwa said that immediately after Engineers finish assessing the damages, UNRA will start repairing the damages as soon as possible to see that transport in the area is eased.

UNRA further guides that motorists using Masaka road can instead use Nakawuka road after Nateete traffic lights known as Lukadde or Mityana road until UNRA repairs the damages.

Minister of transport General Katumba Wamala stated that the ministry has already compiled a report from districts around the country with infrastructure challenges which need to be repaired. He added that the ministry needs over 580 billion to see this fulfilled.

Meanwhile vehicles are moving slowly especially along the roads that connect to the damaged area which has increased the congestion on roads such as the Northern by pass, from Masanafu to Busega.
