With less than 24 hours to the kick off of the 2023 Masaza Cup edition, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokes person Patrick Onyango promised assures tight security at Saturday’s opening game at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku when defending champions Busiro FC will be taking on three time champions Mawokokta FC
Mr. Onyango, said that, “since Ugandans have suffered from recent terrorism attack in Somalia and Kasese, so you never know tthe terrorists may be targeting his Majesty the Kabaka, that’s why tomorrow’s security is very tight and no one will be allowed to enter the stadium without being checked including the katikiro and other VIP people.
“Mr. Onyango added that it’s only the Kabaka who will be allowed to enter without being checked.
According Meanwhile; the kingdom sports minister Owek. Henry Sekambembe and katikiro will arrive at the stadium at exactly 3:20pm before the Kabaka’s arrival at exactly 3:40pm then the game will start at exactly 4pm.
Sekambembe, went on to say that the gates will be opened at 10am and people with VIP invitation cards will not be allowed to access the stadium past 1pm.
While the Organizing committee chairman, Sulaiman Ssejjengo confirmed to the nation that all teams are ready and set to display amazing football.
Ssejjengo, also appeals to all football fans to come and motivate the Kabaka as he officially opens the 2023, Masaza cup tournament tomorrow.
The 19th edition of Masaza ga Buganda football tournament will saw some changes in the playing format as the 18 county teams have been separated into three groups of six teams, the top two teams of each group will be joined by the two best team in third position to reach quarter finals.
The 19th edition will have 104 games which will be played across Masaza”
