Mathias Kigonya leaves Sofapaka by mutual consent

Goalkeeper Mathias “Kone” Kigonya mutually terminated his employment contract with Kenya premier league giants Sofapaka Sports Club.

This happened less than five months since he had rejoined the side christened as “Batoto Ba Mungu”.

For the better part of the season, he played second fiddle to first choice goalkeeper Kevin Omondi.

In a detailed statement published on his official twitter handle, Kigonya described the brief tenure at the club as a short spell but worth.

Kigonyo also in in 2018 left the club to join Kakamega home boy in same.

Mathias Kigonya played in Uganda (, Jogoo Young FC, SC Villa, Baza Holdings FCSoana FC (now known as Tooro United), Bright Stars and Stomers in Beach Soccer league), Kenya (Sofapaka, two stints and Kakamega Home Boyz), Zambia (Forest Rangers) and Tanzania (Azam FC)
