Birongo defeated Peninsula 3-0 to settle down group D as they reach round of 32 alongside with group leader Mayinja FC.
In the game played on Wednesday August 28 at Lweza playground, Birongo FC benefited from Muzaffar Lwanga’s brace and another by Iniesta Nsubuga.
The win took Birongo FC into second place with 6 points downgrading Pennensula FC who is up with all group games.
At the moment Pennensula FC is third placed with 6 points but disadvantaged in goal difference compared to Birongo FC which gives zero chance to progress.
Birongo FC is 3 points less than Mayinja FC who is on 9 points with both team still having one game to play.
Out of the 16 groups only two teams have managed to reach the competition’s knockout stage both from group D.
In the same group Cristal FC beat Kitovu United 2-0 on the day with Yakub Sulaiman Bobic netting both goals.
Both Cristal FC and Kitovu United are just playing to finish up their games in the group.
The competition shall continue tomorrow on Thursday 29 August 2024 with two more game.
Kajjansi Progressive shall play against Najja Water at 2:00 pm while the late kickoff will shall come at 4:00pm between Infantry and Co-operative Garage with both games taking action at Lweza playground.
