Residents of Gombe in Wakiso district have expressed fear after someone appeared with a grader in a manner of using Migadde health centre II land without any notes to the residents and local leaders.
According to the residents, the land where the hospital is constructed was given to them by the president of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni but they were not given any notice about anyone who is supposed to be using it for any other activities apart from the hospital activities.
Residents add that this hospital is on 5 acres of land but part of it has been grabbed, expressing fear that within no time, the whole hospital can be demolished
The Mayor of Gombe division Kasirivu Ronald Kabembula expressed concern over people who continue to grab innocent people’s land in Gombe without lawful notifications, yet the authority is nowhere to give any comments about the matter, leaving people to suffer helplessly, as they are becoming common cases in the area.
He called upon people in authority such as the RDC of Wakiso district, to come out and find solutions to many questions from the residents, as she has kept a deaf ear for all the time people have been evicted. He as well noted that what is happening at Migadde hospital land is the same case that happened to Matugga land, but nothing was done to calm the situation.
The Vice Chairman for Migadde village Juliet Mbekeka also showed concern over the way this man came from nowhere to start grading the hospital land without even notifying local leaders. She appealed to government to gazette the hospital land to save if from being used by unknown people.
In the same way, one of the residents Joseph Mukwaya noted that people who grab the hospital land only mind about themselves and their families at the expense of others. He expressed concern that such a person can never come from any where and start using the hospital land, but according to him, goverment should come out and throw more light on this matter so that it can settle the confusion among the residents and their local leaders.
