Cabinet has approved the appointment of four Members of the Board of Directors of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) for the period of three years.
The new board will be chaired by Racheal Ciconco Mbabazi, a daughter of former Premier, Amama Mbabazi.
Other members are Ms. Onyiru Sarah (member) iii.Mr. Runge George Muzungyo (member ) and Col.(Rtd.) Stephen Mwesigye Basaliza (Member).
Ms. Mbabazi replaces Dr Christopher Ebal, who has served for two terms since 2013.
According to NWSC’s five-year strategic direction, the utility body hopes to deliver 100 percent coverage in service areas by 2020.
In the last three years, NWSC has extended its service coverage from 23 to 162 towns, production increased from 87 million to 104 million cubic metres and new connections have jumped from 317, 000 to 458,000.

There are also significant achievements in completion of major projects such as the expansion of Ggaba water treatment complex.
The utility’s revenue collections have surged from UGX170 billion to UGX 221 billion and geographical pipe network expansion has gone from 90 to 1,000 kilometres per year.
