Micho survives, as Magogo announces Decisions On The Technical Positions Of National Teams

FUFA President Eng. Magogo Hassim Moses has on Thursday 30 March 2023 announced the decisions taken by the FUFA Executive Committee in regard to all the national teams technical positions.

In a press conference held at the FUFA Complex Mengo, FUFA President indicated that there are decisions taken in regards to positions of the national teams at the 28th Executive Committee meeting held on Saturday 18th March 2023.

FUFA President, who was flanked by FUFA 1st Vice President Mr. Justus Mugisha, FUFA 2nd Vice President Mr. Darius Mugoye and FUFA CEO Mr. Edgar Watson Ssuubi along with FUFA Executive Committee members, Dr. Apollo Ahimbisbwe, Mr. Sam Mpiima and Mr. Ronnie Kalema told media that.

“National Teams have been categorised into four categories and hereby announcing that their technical positions are now vacant.

After the EXCOM took decided to part ways with all technical personnels except those of the national senior football team, the Uganda Cranes, as the assessment for Micho and team will be done after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.’

“There are decisions taken on the side of senior team, the Uganda Cranes during the 28th FUFA Executive Committee meeting but because its engagements in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in this period, we hold on to reveal them,” Magogo started.

FUFA President Moses Magogo, addressing the media during the National teams Press Conference on Thursday, said that Micho will remain the head coach.

The Cranes are joint second with Tanzania on four points in Group F of the ongoing AFCON Qualifiers with Algeria (Home) and Niger (Away) still to go.

    In the other changes made, the Uganda Cranes assistant coach will now be the head coach of the U23 National Team The Kobs.

    Additionally, the goalkeeping coach and fitness trainer at the Uganda Cranes will head their respective departments, covering the rest of the national teams and will be fulltime employees of FUFA.

    The Head coach of the Uganda U20 (The Hippos) is now fulltime job and he/she will also be the head of the junior teams’ docket.

    The Head coach of the Senior Women’s National Team (Crested Cranes) will be assisted by coaches of the U20 (Queen Cranes) and U17 (Teen Cranes).

    Goalkeeping coaches and fitness trainers across all the national teams are as well announced vacant and the President called on competent Ugandans to apply for the jobs.

    “We call upon all competent Ugandans to apply for these jobs when the process opens up.” He stated

    Senior Team

    • Uganda Cranes and Uganda U23 (Kobs)

    Junior Teams (Men)

    • U20 (The Hippos), U17 (The Cubs) and U15 (The Rhinos)

    Women Teams

    • Crested Cranes, U20 (Queen Cranes) and U17 (Teen Cranes)

    Other Teams

    • Beach Soccer (Sand Cranes)
    • Futsal (Nile Cranes)
